Video Premiere: Xenobiotic, “Part 1: Light That Burns The Sky”

After releasing their first full-length album, Prometheus, in 2018, Xenobiotic — who come from Perth, Australia, an isolated area far from the country’s other big cities — caught the attention of death metal powerhouse label Unique Leader, who plan to put out their sophomore effort in early 2020. With the signal boost a label like Unique Leader can provide comes a big step up in production, and on “Part 1: Light That Burns The Sky,” which MetalSucks is proud to premiere today, it’s easy to see that this band is ready for the big leagues. The song combines moody progressive death metal in the vein of Fallujah or Black Crown Initiate with something much more menacing and dark, ala Cattle Decapitation, and it’s difficult to imagine fans of any of those bands not immediately grappling onto Xenobiotic.

The band comments on the new single and upcoming album:

“For the last year, we have worked tirelessly to complete the next chapter in this band’s journey. With new members, new influences and a refined vision, we strived to elevate our sound to heights unexplored by this band to date. Looking back on 2019 and what we have managed to create, we are extremely proud and hope this record connects with all of you the way it has with us. This album is more than just an arrangement of music. It is our darkest secrets, our worst fears and our most vivid nightmares. It is everything that casts a shadow over you and I.

“In an attempt to summarize this album before its release, we present to you the first installment of a three-part narrative. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the hell we have created.”

Mordrake comes out on February 21, 2020 via Unique Leader; pre-save it here. The music video for “Part 1: Light That Burns The Sky” was filmed and directed by Joseph Varley at DarKSpiritPhotography.
