Slipknot and Tool in Top Ten Most Googled Albums of 2019

0

Slipknot’s We Are Not Your Kind and Tool’s Fear Inoculum both landed in the top ten when it comes to albums people typed into Google in 2019. That’s no surprise if you follow metal — you know exactly what kind of hype and attention both acts garner — but it’s especially impressive given the other artists in the top ten, all mainstream pop stars.

The list comes from Loudwire citing SEMrush, a site that catalogues such things, but Loudwire didn’t link directly to the SEMrush report or even share a screen shot (it might be subscription only), which is too bad. Still, they did share the top eleven albums (why not ten? a lot of things about this piece are confusing), albeit not in any particular order (another bummer):

Taylor Swift – Lover
Kanye West – Jesus Is King
Tool – Fear Inoculum
Melanie Martinez – K 12
Madonna – Madame X
Ed Sheeran – No. 6 Collaborations Project
Chris Brown – Indigo
Slipknot – We Are Not Your Kind
Drake – Care Package
Chance the Rapper – The Big Day
Post Malone – Hollywood’s Bleeding

Earlier this week we published a list of the most popular stories on MetalSucks in 2019, and, big shocker, both Slipknot and Tool were all over it. We also published a list of our most popular stories of the entire decade, and while Slipknot had a handful of entries, Tool had none; curious!

Slipknot (dates + tickets) and Tool (dates + tickets) are both touring extensively in 2020. Get on it! Plenty of other news and Google worthiness to come from both in the coming year, we’re sure. Whoop whoop!
