Tool Were a Jeopardy! Question Last Night

The long-running TV game show Jeopardy! has a history of featuring metal bands despite its seemingly pedestrian nature, having used Morbid Angel, Obituary, Five Finger Death Punch, Rob Zombie, Slayer and Slipknot in recent years. Can the ultra-smart normies who appear as the show’s contestants hold their weight when it comes to metal? Surprisingly, they usually can.

Tool got the nod last night when host Alex Trebek posed the following answer to the show’s three contestants, part of the current “Greatest of All Time” series in which the show’s biggest winners from the recent past compete against one another for GOAT honors:

“In 2019 this hard rock band led by Maynard James Keenan released its first album in 13 years and it went to no. 1.”

Tool Were a Jeopardy! Question Last Night

James Holzhauer, who according to Wikipedia won 32 straight wins on Jeopardy! last year and is the record holder for all 15 of the top single-game winnings records on the show, correctly chimed in with “What is Tool?” to win the $600 round.

Thankfully no one on the show attempted to bet $666 in any of the Daily Double rounds or Final Jeopardy. The number is banned from the show.

You can watch the exchange at 27:02 in the clip below. Ken Jennings ended up winning “Greatest of All Time” honors.
