Listen to Kirk Windstein’s Cover of Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung”

When I heard the title track from Kirk Windstein’s new solo album, Dream in Motion, I was all, “What makes this a Kirk Windstein solo endeavor and not just the latest offering from Crowbar?” I mean, we all know Mr. Windstein is the driving creative force behind Crowbar, and “Dream in Motion” didn’t really sound all that different from a Crowbar song, sooo

But the new single from that album — a cover of Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung” — does more to answer that question. I don’t think I ever would have known Kirk Windstein was involved with this if someone had just played it for me at random… the vocals are not at all in the usual gruff style for which Windstein is known, and he while he definitely made the song heavier than it was in its original incarnation, it’s not, like, Crowbar-level heavy. So it makes a lot more sense that he’d want to release this under a separate brand.

Check out Kirk Windstein’s Jethro Tull’s “Aqualung” below.  Dream in Motion comes out January 24.
