Tomahawk (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, etc.) are Working on New Music

0

When it rains Mike Patton, it pours Mike Patton. Not that the talented singer and multi-instrumentalist is ever short on creative energy — from metal to film scores to experimental lounge music — but with Faith No More playing shows this summer, Mr. Bungle’s much-heralded live reunion happening right now and today’s news regarding Tomahawk, it seems like an especially busy time for Patton.

The Jesus Lizard’s Duane Denison, who along with Patton, Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle) and John Stainer (Battles, ex-Helmet) comprised the most recently active version of Tomahawk, let slip in a rig rundown video with Premier Guitar that the outfit are working on new music, saying:

“We’re actually working on a new Tomahawk album and I have a song tentatively called “High Noon” and going for a Western sort of vibe…”

Obviously not much to go on there, as it’s unclear who exactly “we” is at this stage (could be just Denison in his bedroom) and one song hardly makes an album, but the very idea of new Tomahawk at some point in the near future — in the next two years, let’s say, for argument’s sake — is exciting. Tomahawk were always my favorite of Patton’s non-Faith No More projects, and their last album, Oddfellows, came out in 2013, so it’s about time.

While you wait for that, get your tickets for the currently in-progress Mr. Bungle reunion and this summer’s Faith No More shows.
