Testament’s Alex Skolnick is a Billie Eilish Fan
While 18-year-old pop star phenom Billie Eilish remains controversial amongst the metal populace, this much is clear: anyone who actually makes music is a fan.
With the likes of Avenged Sevenfold and Wolfgang Van Halen having already publicly voiced their support for the young star, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick — who joined Testament at only 15 years old — joins the ranks of music makers the world over who see the incredible talent in Eilish. Speaking to the Scars & Guitars podcast, he said:
“I got to be honest, she’s singing for real, Some of her live television appearances have been really good – that live on the radio…
“And her brother [Finneas] is a really great musician. He plays keyboards, guitar… I respect what she’s doing.
“I know it would probably be an odd fit, but she’s one of the few I would probably say ‘yes’ to [a collaboration]. There’s plenty of who I would absolutely not work with.”
Skolnick, of course, does way more than just metal — his jazz work with the Alex Skolnick Trio the best known of his current non-Testament projects — so a collaboration with someone like Eilish would not at all be a stretch. I, for one, would be AMPED for that! It’ll likely never happen, but why not hope?
