Two Pickpockets Jailed After Stealing 24 Phones at a Slipknot Show
There’s a lot of ways for concertgoers to ruin a show. You could talk too loud, you could spill your beer all over someone… or you could steal phones from people. Only one of those things will get you jailed, though.
Like that time a dude stole over 50 phone at a While She Sleeps show last year, some more pickpockets recently targeted heavy music fans. At a Slipknot show in Manchester, U.K. last month, Marius Patriche, 33, and Mihaita Marius Caban, 34, stole a bunch of phones and were later arrested.
Caban was detained by security and arrested when leaving the show after 14 phones were discovered inside of a swimsuit underneath his clothes. He pled guilty to theft and was sentenced to four months in jail.
Patriche was tracked down through the stolen cell phones and found at a hotel with ten of them in his suitcase (amateur). He also pled guilty to theft charges and received eight weeks in jail. Both were ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £122.
“We advise people to stay vigilant in these situations and to keep an eye on their belongings at all times making sure they are safe and secure and where possible, out of sight,” said investigative police officer DCI Marcus Haigh.
