Remember when Megadeth were gonna release 2-4 new songs before beginning their European tour with Five Finger Death Punch in January? What ever happened with that? I have no idea! But at least it sounds like we’ll still be getting new ‘Deth tunes before 2020 is through!

In a new statement, the band reveals that they’re going to record their new album before they hit the road the this summer for part 1 of their massive co-headlining tour with Lamb of God (Trivium and In Flames will provide support, making the trek extra super-duper special):

“We wanted to thank the bands we played with, our amazing hardworking crew who help us put on the best show possible night after night, the venues, security, & our die hard fans who traveled far and wide to see us play. It means the world to us! An extra special thank you to Cullen and Ellie at adidas for setting us up with these amazing jackets! Kept us warm in these beautiful frozen European cities.

“We are heading home for a brief break, record album 16 and then preparing for our summer tour with Lamb of GodTrivium and In Flames. Get your tickets now, you don’t want to miss what we have planned for you! metaltouroftheyear.com

While it’s probably not fair to assume the new Megadeth album will be released before the LoG tour commences in June, there is a two-month break between the end of the first leg, in August, and the beginning of the second leg, in October. That would be a pretty ideal time for the band to put something out, no?
