Watch: Corey Taylor Broke His Foot, Played a Slipknot Show Anyway

0

Is there any doubt that Corey Taylor, the only person in metal who matters, is an absolute warrior who can fight through pain, persevere through suffering and give his fans the ROCK AND ROLL they deserve in spite of severe injury?? Of course not!!

And so: after an oxygen tank fell on Corey’s foot prior to Slipknot’s show in Helsinki, Finland this past Monday, February 24, the visibly-hobbled frontman limped to the front of the stage, got up on the riser and addressed the audience:

“I’m just gonna let you in on a little something. As I was coming up on stage an oxygen tank fell from a case and landed on my foot and I’m fairly certain I have broken bones in my foot. So… there’s no way that we’re not fucking playing this fucking show, I’m just letting you know. I may have to hobble around and just fight through it, but I’m gonna give you everything I’ve got god dammit, you gonna give me everything you’ve fucking got?”

In footage of the show captured by a fan which shows the above speech as well as the band’s subsequent performance of “Nero Forte,” Corey stays glued to the center of the stage, certainly not his usual, energetic self. It’s nights like those on which Corey must not mind splitting his paycheck with two additional percussionists who can get out in front and entertain the audience in his stead. Taylor hasn’t since verified that his foot is actually broken, but either way, it’s clear he was in a lot of pain.
