Deftones’ Chino Moreno Attended a Korn Show

0

Despite coming up in the same scene, Deftones and Korn haven’t often toured together over the years. Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch said a few years ago that while the bands were on cordial terms he didn’t believe Deftones wanted to tour with them. Deftones frontman Chino Moreno later confirmed that suspicion, explaining that while he has nothing against Korn and other nu-metal bands, Deftones preferred other touring partners so they could forge their own identity instead of being lumped into a particular scene (whether or not that tactic worked is open for speculation), later walking back that stance a bit.

And that’s why it’s news that Moreno was spotted at Korn’s show in Portland, OR on Thursday, February 27. David Benveniste of Velvet Hammer Management, who represents both Korn and Deftones, posted a photo of himself with Moreno and Jonathan Davis on Instagram, surely generating way more buzz than he expected to. While Benveniste teased, “A night for the books… and many more ahead,” it doesn’t appear he’s suggesting the bands will be touring together in the near future; Deftones are hitting the road with Gojira and Poppy this summer while Korn will head out with Faith No More. Still, you never know what may be coming.

You can check out that photo at the bottom of this post, with each band’s upcoming tour schedule listed below.
