Exclusive Track Premiere: “Part IV” by Spotlights

Spotlights — arguably the only band in the world today whose music can be described as “dream-sludge” — are back! Later this month, the Brooklyn trio will offer up another hypnotic helping of their unique shoegaze/doom/post-metal blend in the form of their latest offering, We Are All Atomic. It is, without a doubt, one of 2020’s can’t-miss releases, and if you don’t believe us (or even if you do), you absolutely must check out the track “Part IV,” which MetalSucks is thrilled to be debuting today. Simultaneously chunky, phantasmagoric, downcast, and affecting, the seven-and-a-half-minute track is a perfect representation of what makes Spotlights one of the most exceptional metal bands on the scene today.

Says singer/guitarist/producer Mario Quintero of the track:

“The idea for what became ‘Part I’ was written about five years ago. Before we released Tidals, actually. ‘Part IV’ was an idea that didn’t make the cut for ‘Love & Decay.’ I really liked both, and this seemed like the perfect moment to finally bring them to life. I wanted [‘We Are All Atomic’] to be a piece that moves through different phases of dynamics and emotions.”
