Soilwork Unveil New Track and Video, “Desperado”

0

Soilwork continue their recent hot streak with “Desperado,” a brand new single that finds the band in peak form following their 2019 album, Verkligheten, their best release in years.

There’s one line in the press release announcing the single that struck me the most: “The song was written and composed by David Andersson.” No help, just David, who joined in 2012 and is also the primary writer in The Night Flight Orchestra. To me that’s as clear an indicator as any that he’s in large part responsible for Soilwork’s creative renaissance of late, especially given NFO’s rising star. Someone give that guy a paycheck raise ASAP!

“Desperado” follows another standalone single, “Feverish,” which, together with one as-of-yet-unreleased track, will eventually comprise an EP titled The Feverish Trinity. Explains the band:

“‘Desperado,’ just like ‘Feverish,’ is a song about how a single emotion can overtake your entire being, and consume you like an almost sentient force. ‘Desperado’ is about what lies behind and beyond, the places you normally avoid. But they will always be there. Desperado is shock rock and metal mayhem for those of us who long for a way out.”

Jam it below along with a video that involves babes, murder, destroying cars and fire!
