Video: Despite Coronavirus Concerns, Guns N’ Roses Headline Mexican Festival, Play “So Fine” for the First Time Since 1993

Thus far, Mexico has been relatively lucky with regards to the global coronavirus pandemic — according to Worldometers, the country has only 53 confirmed cases of COVID-19, and zero deaths. Of course, that could just be due to a lack of testing capability or simply be the result of under-reporting incidents of the virus.

Still, it helps explain why Guns N’ Roses headlined Mexico City’s Vive Latino festival this past Saturday, March 14, despite the ever-growing number of concert cancellations around the world, and the fact that many other artists on the bill did, indeed, pull out of the fest. According to The Daily News, the two-day event sold more than 70,000 tickets for more than $225 a pop, and did not offer refunds to concertgoers who declined to attend.

In what may or may not have been intended as an ironic commentary on the situation at hand, GN’R even chose to perform “So Fine,” from 1991’s Use Your Illusion II, for the first time since 1993… although they did so without Axl Rose’s vocal parts (the track is usually a duet between Rose and bassist Duff McKagan).

You can watch video of the “So Fine” performance at the bottom of this post. Guns N’ Roses have a massive North American stadium tour planned for this summer. Assuming that still moves forward as planned, dates will be as follows:
