Listen: Jeff Loomis Guests on Binary Code’s New Track, “Those I Thought to Spare”

We’ve been fans of Binary Code for over a decade here at MetalSucks — we officially released their 2009 album, Suspension of Disbelief, through this site — so it’s no surprise to us that the band’s upcoming album, Memento Mori, is friggin’ fantastic. What’s more, it’s some of their best, most inspired and mature work to date.

Following the album’s debut single, a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” released back in December, the band have released a new single for the track “Those I Sought to Spare,” which features a delightfully artful guitar solo by Arch Enemy / ex-Nevermore shredder Jeff Loomis. This is one of those situations where it’d be easy to paint the famous dude as making the lesser known band’s track better, but the truth is that the song is so good anyway it’s really a case of both parties elevating one another to the next level. It’s a fantastic fit, and Aaron Smith’s (7 Horns 7 Eyes) production drives it all home.

Memento Mori comes out May 15; pre-order here. The album was inspired entirely by the suicide of founder/guitarist Jesse Zuretti’s girlfriend and all sales will be donated to suicide prevention.
