A couple of weeks back, a group of Scandinavian metal and rock musicians decided to put their quarantine time to good use with a new project called At the Movies devoted entirely to covering music from iconic films of the ’80s. Their first release was a rousing rendition of “No Easy Way Out” from Rocky IV.

Still under quarantine and with plenty of time on their hands, the band has returned with their next entry [Editor’s update: actually their third entry! they also covered “Maniac” from Flashdance], a cover of the theme song from the iconic 1985 film St. Elmo’s Fire, originally written and performed by John Parr. At the Movies haven’t taken any drastic creative liberties with their version, but you’ve never heard this song rock so hard, I guarantee it. Check it out below with a performance video filmed by all the band’s members in their home studios.

At the Movies features vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid (Soilwork, The Night Flight Orchestra), guitarist Chris Laney (Randy Piper’s Animal, Zan Clan), drummer Allan Sørensen (Royal Hunt, Pretty Maids), keyboardist Morten Sandager (Mercenary, Pretty Maids), bassist Pontus Egberg (King Diamond) and guitarist Pontus Norgren (Hammerfall).
