Former Mushroomhead Singer Jeffrey Nothing Returns to Make His Old Band Sound Comparatively Amazing

  • Axl Rosenberg

I may not think very highly of Mushroomhead or their new single, “Seen It All”… but holy crap, compared to “Never Enough,” the new solo track from their former singer, Jeffrey Nothing, it sounds like freakin’ “Master of Puppets.” “Never Enough” was co-written and co-produced by another former Mushroomhead, guitarist Tommy Church, and musically, I guess it’s okay enough — it sounds kinda like Mark Morton wrote a nu-metal song — but the vocals… WOOF. Nothing sounds bored and lobotomized during the verses, and that’s the good part of his performance; the pre-chorus and chorus sound like a local band singer trying to perform out of his range. It is very, very not good.

You can check out “Never Enough” below if you so please. Not that I think you’ll care, but the track appears on Nothing’s EP, Doom Candy, which is out now on Zombie Shark Records, and can be purchased here.
