Concert Pianist’s Rendition of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters” Is Beautiful, Depressing

  • Axl Rosenberg

I cannot tell a lie: I did not make it all the way through this video of concert pianist Ayse Deniz covering Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters.” Not because it’s bad; on the contrary, it’s very, very good.

It’s also very, very sad. And I’m already feeling pretty down, what with the pandemic and the lack of human contact and the police state and the curfew and the murder hornets and the sense of complete fucking helplessness in the face of The End of Days. Even the fact that the video shows Deniz playing to an empty hall, presumably out of necessity, makes me wanna put on Jesu and curl up into a ball and cry until I pass away from dehydration.

So I guess what I’m saying is, by all means, watch this… but make sure you’re the right mood before you do, y’know?
