Rammstein are Writing New Music in Quarantine

2020 was poised to be a big year for Rammstein. Hot off the release of their generally well-received 2019 album, Rammstein, the band had massive stadium tours planned for both Europe (spring / early summer) and North America (late summer). Alas, those were not to be, as the band has postponed both until 2021 because of the you-know-what.

But the band hasn’t let the down time go for naught. Despite their usually deliberate pace of writing new music, drummer Christoph Schneider revealed during an appearance Saturday (June 13) on the Rodeo Radio podcast (embedded below) that the band members have been tossing some new musical ideas back and forth:

“We still have so many ideas lying around, so many unfinished songs.

“We have met and we are working on new songs. We want to work on songs. But whether or not it will turn into an album, nobody knows yet.”

Obviously “we are working on new songs” and “we have a new album coming soon” are two very different things, but at the very least perhaps this time it’ll be less than the ten years it took them between Liebe ist für alle da and Rammstein. We’re still bummed to wait until next year for the band’s bombastic live show, but things really could be worse.
