Sevendust Guitarist Says New Album is Complete, Band is Considering Livestream Shows

0

Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery joined The MetalSucks Quarantinecast last week to discuss what he’s been doing while on lockdown (besides recording and releasing a solo EP, that is), the current status of Sevendust, the future of touring, his thoughts on the ongoing protests for racial reform, the Black Lives Matter movement and more.

Among those topics: Sevendust’s next album, which he says is complete and ready to go, and will follow up All I See is War, released in May of 2018.

He also spoke candidly about the band’s financial situation as it relates to waiting out this pandemic, and while he said they’ll need to “get super creative” to make ends meet by year’s end, ultimately he’s not too worried. He offered:

“Thankfully for us, we were kind of scheduled to be dark for most of this year anyway. We had finished a record months ago and instead of coming off a touring cycle, waiting months and months and then writing and getting back in the studio, we knocked a record out pretty quick. We’re really excited about it but we knew we were going to be off [right now].

“It couldn’t have worked out much better, ’cause we were gonna be off and we built a little bit of a nest egg to survive. Not nearly as long as we’re anticipating for this [pandemic] so we’re having to find different ways to be creative on how we spread this out. We’re looking into doing some streaming shows, and any kind of revenue we can generate to take care of our band and our crew.

“It’s a nail biter, man. We’re trying to figure this out. We’re OK for now and that’s really how we take it, we take it month to month, we have lots of discussions on how we’re going to survive. It’s going to be touchy at the very end of the year, that’s when the resources will diminish and we’ll get super creative, but so is everyone else. Everyone’s having a lot of trouble. We’re going to stick through it and we’re going to figure it out. I’m doing a lot of stuff at home and everyone individually is doing things. I’m going to start little side hustles and do as many things as I can.”
