Corey Taylor Volunteers to Join Slipknot Tribute Act

0

I’ve said this before, but I’ll say it again: there’s got to be some kind of psychological study worth conducting about the types of people that feel compelled to join tribute acts. It’s one thing to cover another band’s songs in your basement or garage — that’s fun! — or even for cover bands to play out, but it’s another entirely to not only attempt to make a living off playing one single band’s catalogue, but looking, acting, dressing and sounding like a specific person while you do it. That’s kinda weird, right? Someone get that shit into the DSM-6.

In any case, some New Jersey nerds in an existing Slipknot tribute act recently posted a Craigslist ad seeking out their next Corey Taylor (what happened to the previous stand-in isn’t clear), going so far as to demand all applicants have the same physical attributes as The Only Important Person in Metal™ himself… and the ad ended up attracting the attention of Mr. Taylor himself.

Here’s the bulletin’s full copy:

“We are an established Slipknot tribute band, dubbed the most accurate Slipknot tribute in the world. We focus on their 1999-2001 album and touring cycle, and plan on moving through the other eras.

“We are in need of someone in the same or near same physical shape as Corey Taylor, 5’8. That has the same vocal range, stage experience is a must! Be able to command a crowd and act the part.

“(You would need to buy multiple jumpsuits, etc. a mask will be provided for now for accuracy sake.)

“Please be dedicated, if you decide to be a part of this band, we need you to give it your all for as long as the band exists.

“Thank you for reading this far, please contact us if you feel that you fit the part.

“Of The (SiC)”

Taylor jokingly posted a link to the ad on Twitter, saying:

“If you’re interested, I’m also sitting at 166 lbs…”

If Taylor ends up getting the gig, at least the band can rest assured he’ll come prepared with jumpsuits, no additional investment needed!
