The first week sales figures and chart positions for The Acacia Strain’s latest album, Slow Decay, are in, and it seems fair to say that the band’s fans are having a positive response to the record.

The deathcore crew’s tenth full-length studio album racked up 12,015 album-equivalent units in its first week of release. 9,100 of those were in pure album sales.

That was enough to land it the following Billboard chart positions:

  • #87 – Top 200
  • #3 – Hard Rock Albums
  • #5 – Current Albums
  • #5 – Top Album Sales
  • #5 – Vinyl Albums

The band’s last album, It Comes In Wave, didn’t make it onto the Billboard Top 200, but that’s likely because it was a surprise release. Lambgoat reports that 2017’s Gravebloom sold 5,100 copies in its first week of release to land at #146 on that chart, while 2014’s Coma Witch debuted at #31 after selling 9,400 copies in its initial sales week.

The Slow Decay sales figures are even more impressive when you consider that a) we’re in the middle of a pandemic, and b) ten of the record’s twelve songs were released gradually in pairs in the months leading up to the full album’s release. In other words, fans liked the material enough to wanna pay for it to be collected all in one place.

Slow Decay is out now on Rise Records. Listen to our recent interview with TAS guitarist Devin Shidaker here.
