Every Metallica Album Ranks in the iTunes Top 100 Right Now… Except One
Ever wondered how various artists from throughout the metal and hard rock communities stack up against one another when it comes to YouTube views, Apple Music streams, pure album sales, ticket sales (back when those were a thing… and when they become so again) and other metrics? Today we look at the Top 100 Heavy Metal Albums chart on iTunes for the period ending August 10, 2020. Unsurprisingly, Metallica maintain a presence on the chart despite having no new music out since 2016… Metallica are always in the news and always relevant. But what’s shocking is that all of their albums are in the top 100 right now (top 60, actually), demonstrating just how firm of a grip Metallica have over the metal market all the damn time. Except one, that is, and I’m not counting Lulu… it’s St. Anger, naturally! With both producer Bob Rock and drummer Lars Ulrich recently talking about that infamous botched effort in the press, one might think it’d experience a bit of a sales bump, but nope, or at least one significant enough to place on this chart. [Welp, I’m a dumb dumb: St. Anger is, in fact, in the top 100, at #63. Lulu definitely isn’t, but you can buy it on clearance on Metallica’s website for $4.99 if you like.]
