Metallica Release “For Whom the Bell Tolls” S&M² Performance

Metallica have released the S&M² version of “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” arguably the best metal song ever inspired by the work of Ernest Hemingway*. Pros of this iteration of the song: it’s “For Whom the Bell Goddamn Tolls,” it’s hard to fuck it up. Cons of this iteration of the song: you can barely hear Robert Trujillo’s bass at the beginning. This was an issue with the original S&M ’99 performance of the song, too. I guess in the twenty years in-between those shows, no one but me ever complained about it, so they didn’t address it. Typical.

ANYWAY, check out the track below. The S&M² audio and video box set comes out August 28, and can be pre-ordered here.

*I think it’s actually the only metal song ever inspired by the work of Ernest Hemingway. Pardon me if I’m mistaken.
