Deftones Have Their Own Instagram Filter Now

Deftones have unveiled an Instagram filter to promote their new album, Ohms. The filter utilizes augmented reality to render the eyes from Frank Maddocks’ album cover artwork onto whatever the user decides to place them on. I just tried it out, and it’s a fun way to waste a few minutes of your boss’s day (my boss is me — whoops).

Deftones are encouraging fans to share their photos using the filter to socials using the hashtag #OhmsEyes, joking “We’ll look out for you.” You can try out the filter now on Instagram and Facebook using your mobile device of choice.

“Ohms” is the first single from the album of the same name, which will arrive on September 25. Give it a spin below along with the accompanying video directed by rafatoon.

Frontman Chino Moreno recently said that guitarist Stephen Carpenter was much more “engaged” this time around than on their 2016 album, Gore, with drummer Abe Cunningham adding that “Stephen’s guitar tone is so damn thick” on the lead single. Carpenter had said about the previous album that he “wasn’t too interested” in the material the other band members brought to the table, explaining “It wasn’t the style or the sound I was hoping we would take. It wasn’t what I was expecting or wanting.”

The band are also celebrating the 20th anniversary of White Pony with a remix album titled Black Stallion and a new White Pony-branded beer.
