Whitechapel are Headed to the Studio

0

Whitechapel, not content to let the pandemic slow them down, have made good use of their time in quarantine by doing what bands do best: write new music! So much so, in fact, that they’ve got an entire new album ready to go, and they’re heading into the studio this week to lay it down on tape.

Speaking to hard-hitting journalistic outpost Knotfest.com (embedded below), guitarist Alex Wade said:

“I definitely feel like we got kind of cut short as far as the album cycle for The Valley goes. But we’re trying to make the best of it that we can. We had a lot of killer tours and everything lined up this year. But it is what it is, and we just kind of have to roll with the punches.

“We made the best of a bad situation, and we ended up writing another album. So we’re gonna be going into the studio this week, actually, and we’re gonna start production on that. I think, truly, if we would have ended up going on all those tours that we wouldn’t have had the time to dedicate to making the best album possible, but since we were all sitting at home on our ass, we were able to make a really killer record.”

Every band is right there with Whitechapel, unsure of how to move forward, whether they had just put an album out or were planning to in the next year before the pandemic struck — it stinks no matter what. When to release new music? Is it even worth it if you can’t tour? For Whitechapel fans, at least, it seems as if it’ll involve new music before too long, and I respect any band who chooses to forge ahead right now. Kataklysm’s Maurizio Iacono would be proud.
