Fear Factory’s Dino Cazares Says Burton “Needs to Really Tell the Truth”

Following yesterday’s shocking announcement that vocalist Burton Seabell has quit Fear Factory, guitarist Dino Cazares posted a series of tweets last night responding to fan questions about the current state of the band.

In last night’s tweets, Cazares asserted that Fear Factory are “alive and well” despite Burton’s exit, the album he recorded with Burton in 2017 will still be released with Burton’s vocals on it, and that he has no ill will towards Burton, while punting to the singer to tell “the truth” about what happened between them. He also indicated he is open to the idea of finding a new singer to carry on with live performances once those come back into existence.

In a statement shared on his official website yesterday, Seabell cited the “toxic drama” of the “greed” of “three members”– presumably Cazares, Raymond Herrera and Christian Olde-Wolbers — who he says “have dragged me through the unjust, judicial system, resulting in the legal attrition that has financially crippled me.” He also asserts that they have “taken possession of my principal livelihood” but “will never take my 30-year legacy as the beating heart of the machine.”

All of those musicians have been wrapped in a protracted legal battle over the Fear Factory name. When Cazares recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to finish the group’s new album, Burton took to social media to call the campaign a “scam” to cover Cazares’ own legal fees. He also re-asserted that the album has been done since 2017.

In a recent interview, Cazares revealed exclusively to MetalSucks that he is now the sole owner of the moniker. Still, he maintained that he wanted Burton to remain in the line-up: “Why can’t it be equal like we’ve had it before? Why can’t it. To me that hasn’t changed.”

Have a look at some of Dino’s tweets from last night below.
