Watch The Black Dahlia Murder Perform in a Church

Dunno if you’ve noticed, but The Black Dahlia Murder’s Verminous has been cleaning up on the MetalSucks’ staff’s year-end lists: it’s the only album that has appeared on more than two lists thus far, making the cut for Vince (#7), Phil (#4), and myself (#11).

Hopefully, you’re all as passionate about the record as we are, and don’t need convincing to watch the band’s “Yule ‘Em All: A Holiday Variety Extravaganza,” which will debut two weeks from now. But if you do need convincing, the band has now released a sample of that performance in the form of the Verminous track “Sunless Empire.” Since the band didn’t get to tour properly behind Verminous because of that thing which rhymes with “bovid,” this is really our first chance to see any material from the album performed live.

Less-than-surprisingly, it sounds fucking great.

And yet, that is only ONE reason this clip rules.

The other two are:

i) It features an intro by Neil Hamburger, who I guess is on loan from the Mr. Bungle streaming special.

ii) TBDM filmed their show IN A GODDAMN CHURCH and gave Jesus bloody knees and I don’t know how they swung this but fuck me naked with a spoon is it ever cool.

Watch the performance below. “Yule ‘Em All: A Holiday Variety Extravaganza” is set for Friday, December 18th at 4PM PST/7PM EST, and will be available to stream for 48 hours after it initially airs Tickets are just ten bucks; there’s also a ticket + exclusive merch bundle available for $30. You can buy either of those here.

Verminous is out now on Metal Blade. Get it here.
