Courtney Love Says She No Longer Acts Because of “A Bunch of #MeToos”

Courtney Love says she’s done with acting because of “a bunch of #metoos,” which is confusing for multiple reasons… not least of which being that she’s not done with acting.

The Hole singer and widow of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain recently shared a photo of herself at the Golden Globes in 1997 — when she was nominated in the Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture for her role as Althea Flynt in The People vs. Larry Flynt — along with this message:

“For a few years, because of [The People vs. Larry Flynt director] Milos Forman, I was a professional actress and a movie star.

“It was fun as hell.

“I was nominated for best actress, for a Golden Globe ..

“One day I might talk about it .

“I love acting … I stopped being capable of it after a bunch of #metoos .
No one would believe me, and it wouldn’t stop.

“So I left, and it left. And I’m good with it. ???? Maybe, in my next life I’ll be stronger & able to endure it .. I tip my hat to those who can.

“It was super fun though.”

She continued:

“I sure do miss acting sometimes. To the tune of a great director. One of the greatest experiences, as a woman you can have, I think.

“All the glamour that comes after that is fun, flamboyant, gorgeous ! But the trust one can achieve with a great director?

“It’s one of the most profound things I’ve ever known.”

Here’s the thing: Love has completed filming a role for James Franco’s adaptation of the William Gay novel Long Way Home, and is set to play a starring role in and adaption of another novel, The Possibility of Fireflies, which will be the feature film debut of acclaimed television director Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot). In 2017, she appeared in the movie JT Leroy opposite Laura Dern and Kristen Stewart; that same year, she also starred in two TV movies, Menendez: Blood Brothers and A Midsummer’s Nightmare. And in 2014 and 2015, she played recurring guest roles three popular television series: Sons of Anarchy, Empire, and Revenge.

My point being, I have no idea what the hell she’s talking about when she says she “stopped being capable” of acting “after a bunch of #metoos.” Unless she’s saying she “stopped being capable” of acting as in “I am no longer good at acting.” But that wouldn’t make much more sense, and doesn’t seem to be what she’s saying anyway.
