Deftones’ Chino Moreno Guests on Track by Rapper Trippie Redd

0

Rapper Trippie Redd has teamed up with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker on a collaborative project titled Neon Shark vs. Pegasus, a deluxe version of Trippie’s third studio album, Pegasus. The new release, which was executive produced by Barker, features a number of guest appearances, including spots from Machine Gun Kelly, Zillakami, and Deftones frontman Chino Moreno.

Of interest to us, of course, is the latter, which we’re hearing today for the first time along with the album’s arrival on streaming platforms.

Not only does Moreno guest on the track “Geronimo,” but Trippie says that the album’s title was directly inspired by Deftones’ White Pony, explaining on Shirley’s Temple:

“Basically, one of my favorite bands is Deftones, and they made an album called ‘Pony,’ [sic] so I like the fact that they used just, you know, some type of animal to symbolize what they felt on the album. So, I made a rock album called ‘Neon Shark’. It was supposed to be its own album, but I was like, ‘fuck it, I’mma make it the deluxe for ‘Pegasus.’’”

Have a listen to “Geronimo,” with Chino’s vocals, below, and the full Neon Shark vs. Pegasus album underneath that.
