Vexed: VV Ballsy Band Probably Likes Meshuggah

Vexed — which is a band from the UK that mercifully have nothing to do with a certain homophonous turd bucket — have released a new song called “Hideous.” If you’re not yet exhausted by groups kneeling at the altar of Meshuggah, you may very well dig it. The “Demiurge”-ish riff is certainly catchy. I could do without the clean vocals, but maybe that’s just me being grumpy.

Says the band of the song:

“It gives us great satisfaction to share with you our Grindhouse inspired music video for our debut single, ‘Hideous.’ Fueled by the feeling of ‘seeing red’ and having to decide how to react in moments of betrayal and rage, do you let your blood boil over or sit and wait for the killing instinct to pass?”

Assuming you’re into it, “Hideous” will appear on Vexed’s debut album, Culling Culture, which comes May 21 on Napalm Records.

As you probably guessed, the title is meant to be a clever play on the term “cancel culture,” a phenomenon to which the band will offer their “unfiltered response” on the record.

Man, they have such balls! Such big, big balls! They so edgy and… ballsy!

You can pre-order the album here. It features a guest appearance by Thy Art Is Murder’s CJ McMahon so obvi it’s gonna be the bestest record ever. [Update, 2/24: McMahon worked with the band on a prior single, “Elite,” but does not appear on Culling Culture. Out apologies for the error.]
