Rob Zombie’s “Crow Killer Blues” Video: Snowy

Today sees the release of Rob Zombie’s first album in five years, The Lunar Injection Kool Aid Eclipse Conspiracy, and if you ask me, it’s his best outing in decades: you probably have to go all the way back to Hellbilly Deluxe to find a Zombie release this fun and satisfying from start to finish. I like it so much I’ve almost forgiven Zombie for 3 from Hell… almost.

ANYWAY.

To celebrate the release of/remind you to please purchase Lunar Injection, Zombie has now released a music video for the record’s closing track, “Crow Killer Blues.” The song is either about John “Liver-Eating” Johnson or a guy who’s really sad about murdering birds; I’m sincerely not sure which.

I’m’a be honest: this is not the most visually-stimulating music video you’ll ever watch. It’s mostly footage* of Zombie walking around in the snow that’s been spruced up with some iMovie silent film effects and some weirdly-overexposed band shots. Its greatest production value comes from a cameo by a buffalo. Someday I’ll show it to my five kids and be like “This was made on a budget in the middle of a pandemic” and they’ll be like “Yeah no shit Pop.”

Having said that, the song itself is bad-ass — how wicked is that John 5 riff??? — and it’s by no means the most embarrassing music video you’ll ever see. So there’s that.

You can check out the clip below. Loon Aid Ecliption Theory or whatever it’s called is out now (BTW, if you’re curious where the hell Zombie came up with that name, he’s actually explained it).

Zombie recently predicted that there will be another pandemic, which is probably true and massively depressing.

*My not-entirely-uneducated guess is that Sherri Moon Zombie is on the other side of that camera in the snow.
