System of a Down’s Serj Tankian Posts New Video for “Electric Yerevan;” Solo Album Out Today
Along with today’s release of System of a Down frontman Serj Tankian’s first solo EP, Elasticity, comes a video for its latest single, “Electric Yerevan.”
Tankian explains of the clip, which was directed by Garin Hovannisian:
“The song was inspired by the successful Electric Yerevan protests in Armenia in the summer of 2015 where people protested against proposed hikes in utility prices. My writing from that time is inscribed word for word in the song.”
Elasticity consists of a group of “rock songs” Tankian was working on by himself at least as far back as 2018. He said at the time they were originally written for System but that he now planned to release them as part of a solo EP in light of the creative differences that continue to keep System of a Down from making a new album.
Meanwhile, Serj recently revealed he has another entire EP already written, among several projects in the works.
