Per Wiberg‘s illustrious career with bands like Opeth, Spiritual Beggars, Kamchatka, and Candlemass culminates on the Swedish multi-instrumentalist’s new EP, All Is Well in the Land of the Living, but for the Rest of Us… Lights Out.

Drawing on influences as diverse as Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Ulver, Porcupine Tree, Sonic Youth, and Alice Coltrane, All Is Well in the Land of the Living represents Wiberg’s most ambitious work to date. No two songs sound alike; it is genre-defying, psychedelic, atmospheric, catchy, expansive, and dark without being dour or dreary.

It’s a big creative swing, but Wiberg hits it out of the park: a not second feels misguided, tedious, or wasted. We hope to hear much, much more material in this vein from Wiberg in the future.

MetalSucks is thrilled to debut All Is Well in the Land of the Living, but for the Rest of Us… Lights Out! You can listen below. The EP comes out tomorrow, Friday, May 14, on Despotz Records! Pre-order physical editions here and digital editions here!!!
