KK’s Priest Release “Sermons of the Sinner”

KK’s Priest, the new band featuring former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing, have released “Sermons of the Sinner,” the title track of their forthcoming album and its second single.

Like the band’s debut single, “Hellfire Thunderbolt,” it can most certainly not be said that this song doesn’t sound like Judas Priest, nor that it isn’t good (in case those double-negatives are confusing, I’m saying it sounds just like Priest and is in fact quite good). But whether you ultimately like it or not, we reckon, will come down to whether you buy into the concept of a Judas Priest offshoot without the voice of Rob Halford, and that’s for you to decide.

The band also features two other former Priest members, vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens and drummer Les Binks. Rounding out the line-up are guitarist A.J. Mills (Hostile), who delivers a killer solo here, and bassist Tony Newton (Voodoo Six).

Downing recently said that he feels “justified” in using the Priest moniker in his new band’s name, citing his legacy with Judas Priest and a misunderstanding surrounding his departure from the band in 2011.

You can listen to “Sermons of the Sinner” below. Sermons Of The Sinner will come out on August 20 via Explorer1 Music Group/EX1 Records.
