Obscura Announce New Album A Valediction

Rejoice! Obscura — surely one of the finest tech-death bands in the world today — have announced that they’ll release a new album, A Valediction, on November 19.

Notably, that’s mere months before the release of the debut album from Obsidious, the new band featuring three former members of Obscura. So depending on your POV, this is either an embarrassment of riches, a full-on rivalry, or both.

That seems especially interesting given that, according to a press release, A Valediction “thematically [deals] with final farewells” (as its title suggests it would). Hmm

Says Obscura mastermind Steffen Kummerer of the record:

“‘A Valediction’ unfolds Obscura in its purest form and showcases the band at new heights and offers immediacy with a rather personal touch. We cannot wait to perform this album on stage and celebrate each and every song live with our loyal fans around the globe. This record goes to eleven, so watch out for the first single dropping in July and worldwide tour dates to be announced soon.”

While we wait for that single, the album art, by Eliran Kantor (Testament, Hatebreed, Sigh, etc.), and the track list, are both below:

01) “Forsaken”
02) “Solaris”
03) “A Valediction”
04) “When Stars Collide” (feat. Björn ‘Speed’ Strid)
05) “In Unity”
06) “Devoured Usurper”
07) “The Beyond”
08) “Orbital Elements II”
09) “The Neuromancer”
10) “In Adversity”
11) “Heritage”
