Metalheads with at least semi-functioning brains have been excited to hear “Time to Choose” since we first learned about the song in March. At the time, Twisted Sister singer Dee Snider described the song as a “duet” with Cannibal Corpse frontman George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher, which I think gave some of us visions of something like “Close My Eyes Forever” except, y’know, incredibly fucked up.

Well, now “Time to Choose” is here, and… it’s not really a duet in the sense of the two vocalists trading verses or stanzas or whatever. Corpsegrinder’s role is more that of a hype man, echoing Snider’s parts in how own signature terrifying bellow. And musically, it sounds very Hatebreedish, which makes sense, ’cause it was produced by Jamey Jasta. I’m guessing Jasta helped write it, too, but that’s just conjecture on my part.

Says Snider of the song:

“‘Time To Choose’ deals with a subject I’ve addressed often over the course of my writing career: good vs. evil (see ‘Burn In Hell’). Given the heaviness of this track, I felt adding George ‘Corpsegrinder’ Fisher’s voice to this would drive home the seriousness of the choices we make. I was honored when he agreed to contribute his incredibly powerful voice.”

Listen to “Time to Choose” below. The song will appear on Snider’s new solo album, Leave a Scar, which comes out July 30 on Napalm. Pre-order it here.

“Time to Choose” continues to mark a big week for Snider: he and his family recently whooped Terry Bradshaw and his family on Celebrity Family Feud (don’t be pissy, they donated the winnings to charity). It could only have been more fun to watch if the Sniders’ opponents had been the Al and Tipper Gore clan.
