MTV Cribs is Coming Back!

0

A good chunk of the MetalSucks readership is likely of the age that MTV Cribs, the TV show that took viewers into the homes of pop and rock stars and brought the phrase “where the magic happens” into the common lexicon, came during their formative years. Which naturally means that the news of the series’ pending reboot will scratch that nostalgia itch deep and vigorously!

Previous seasons of MTV Cribs gave us metal and hard rock fans plenty of entertaining fodder, including this hilariously stereotypical early ’00s nu-metal bit with Disturbed frontman David Draiman:

A look at Alice in Chains’ guitarist Jerry Cantrell’s Oklahoma ranch:

Rob Zombie’s appropriately spooky L.A. Mansion:

Mid ’00s reality star Vince Neil’s home:

And plenty more you likely remember.

Now the ViacomCBS network has announced that MTV Cribs will return for a new season on August 11. The list of homes we get to see this time around is decidedly less metal, however, with Martha Stewart, Big Sean, Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross, JoJo Siwa, Kathy Griffin, Marsai Martin, Snooki, Tinashe and Rick Ross on the marquee.

“Cribs didn’t simply introduce the celebreality genre, it created a blueprint for how we engage on social media,” says Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer of MTV Entertainment Group. “We are thrilled to usher in a new era of this iconic franchise for audiences around the world.”

Here’s an extremely short trailer for the rebooted Cribs that doesn’t reveal anything, but you’ll probably watch anyway:
