Fear Factory Have Found Their New Singer

Fear Factory have found a singer to replace longtime frontman Burton Seabreeze… but they won’t say who it is yet.

Even if they did say who it is, I don’t know that it would matter — Fear Factory guitarist (and now sole brand owner) Dino Cazares has said before that he wants to hire an unknown. Assuming that’s what he did, a name alone wouldn’t mean anything to us. If he said, like, “We hired Jonny Santos from Spineshank,” that means something. “We hired Shlomo Moscovitz,” on the other hand, would only encourage us to run to Google to see if we could find any samples of Shlomo Moscovitz singing.

I assume for that reason, Cazares says he’d like to introduce the new singer via a new Fear Factory song, which I think is a smart move — don’t make fans speculate, let them hear Fear Factory 2021 and (hopefully) get on board with Seasaw no longer being in the band.

Cazares revealed the news during a recent interview with Bucketlist TV:

“For those of you who don’t know, our singer quit after 30 years, so I’ve been looking for a new singer. And I’m first here to tell you that I have definitely nailed it down to one person. I’m not gonna reveal who that is yet — not yet. Once I’m done [playing with Soulfly as a fill-in guitarist for the summer U.S tour], I’m gonna go back to L.A., back to the studio, and I’ll be writing some new new Fear Factory songs with the new singer, because I’d like to introduce him with a new song.”

Those of you who picked up on the “him” pronoun might be bummed that Cazares didn’t hire a woman, which he previously said was a real possibility. To those fans, Cazares says:

“That was true. I auditioned a few women, yes. But it didn’t work out — not because they were female or anything like that. Because I wanted to pick whoever was best for the position, and it turned out to be a guy.”

Interestingly, the band just announced that they’ll release an instrumental version of their new album, Aggression Continuum, in September. I wonder if there are any re-recordings of that material with the new singer in the works?
