Black Label Society Will “Set You Free” with Their New Song, Video and Album Announcement

0

Black Label Society just put out a brand new song “Set You Free,” and right off the bat I can tell you I like it more than anything the band has put out in quite some time.

Why? It’s different! Black Label Society definitely have their THING — and that’s fine, they’re great, they’re consistent like Slayer or Killswitch Engage in that way — but the appeal starts to wear off after a while, ya know? So throw in a song like “Set You Free,” which switches things up just enough harmonically while still sounding unmistakably like BLS, and you’ve got my ear. It reminds me of the groove and melody of “Stillborn” in a way, but slower.

The video is super fun, too, kinda like metal’s version of Weezer’s iconic “Buddy Holly” clip, with the Black Label lads dressing up and performing as alter ego versions of themselves in a time and place long gone, and acting appropriately goofy while doing it. No one has ever accused Zakk Wylde and co. of not knowing how to have a good time.

Watch “Set You Free” below. The new Black Label Society album, Doom Crew Inc., will come out on November 26 via eOne.

Black Label Society will tour with Obituary and Prong in October and November, and then with Armored Saint and Prong in December. Dates:
