KK’s Priest’s Drop Video for “Return of the Sentinel,” New Album Out Today

Sermons Of The Sinner, the debut album by KK’s Priest — the band led by ex-Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing — finally comes out today, October 1 (after being pushed back from its original August 20 release date).

Priest fans skeptical that K.K. still knows his way around a riff have likely been silenced by the singles released so far, but if you’re still a doubter you can stream the record in full below and see what you think.

You can also watch the video for “Return of the Sentinel,” which arrives today along with the album.

Final opinion? My two cents: Downing did a damn good job with this project. No one can ever replace Rob Halford, so K.K.’s Priest will always be secondary to the real thing (which still involves Glenn Tipton on a writing level, even if he’s sidelined live by Parkinson’s Disease), but this version of the band is just fine in my book.

The band also features former Judas Priest vocalist Tim “Ripper” Owens, guitarist A.J. Mills (Hostile), bassist Tony Newton (Voodoo Six), and drummer Sean Elg (Deathriders, Cage), who replaced former Judas Priest drummer Les Binks at some point along the way.

Downing recently said that he feels “justified” in using the Priest moniker in his new band’s name, citing his legacy with Judas Priest and a misunderstanding surrounding his departure from the band in 2011.
