DevilDriver have announced that they’re parting ways with guitarist Neal Tiemann after six years.

Frontman Dez Fafara made the announcement on social media:

“It’s at this time we are announcing the parting of ways with Neal. Neal filled in at a time when we needed him most, we thank him for his touring & song writing efforts in DevilDriver….it was an honor to have jammed with him. Adios Amigo good luck in whatever you do.”

Tiemann hasn’t released a statement of his own.

The guitarist, age 38, joined DevilDriver in 2015 after a stint with Burn Halo, singer James Hart’s post-Eighteen Visions endeavor. He appears on their albums Trust No One (2016) and Dealing with Demons I (2020), as well as their 2018 country covers record, Outlaws ’til the End. No idea whether or not he also wrote or recorded anything for the upcoming Dealing with Demons II.

Last year, Tiemann stepped in as the live guitarist for Carnifex after they split from Jordan Lockrey. Does Tiemann splitting from DevilDriver mean he’s now a permanent member of Carnifex? That seems like a not-altogether-unfair assumption, but no announcement has been made as of yet.
