Sumo Cyco Drop Video for Previously Unreleased Track, “Sun Eater”

Sumo Cyco released a most excellent new record, Initiation, earlier this year. Since time is a flat circle, nothing matters and our musical attention quickly darts from yesterday’s fresh and shiny thing to today’s, the band’s new video for the previously unreleased track “Sun Eater” provides as good of an opportunity as any to revisit that record. And for those of you who haven’t listened to it yet, an opportunity for you to do that. It’s not for everyone, but for me it’s fun, poppy diversion from my typical daily dose of Brutal-O’s.

Frontwoman Skye Sweetnam explains of the new video:

“When I wrote ‘Sun Eater’ I was contemplating life’s big existential questions. No matter what problems we’re faced with, we’re all just here for a moment spinning warp speed through space. When one starts thinking of the big picture, it can also make our everyday problems seem more insignificant. I sing about my inner demons very often in my music, when comparing those demons to a massive Sun Eating monster of the universe, it really is no match. So, the song is really about seizing the day, because it really is crazy that we even exist.”

Watch the video for “Sun Eater” below. The song and two other unreleased numbers from the Initiation recording sessions appear on a deluxe edition of the album, out now and available here.
