Avatar Cancel Remainder of Tour Due to Positive Covid-19 Test

0

Remember a couple of weeks back when Tallah dropped off their tour with Avatar due to a Covid-19 outbreak within the group and not-so-subtly blamed Avatar for not allowing them to return after quarantining?

Welp, now the Covid-19 bug has gotten to Avatar as well, forcing the cancelation of the entire rest of the tour. It’s not clear whether the infection came from Tallah, another source or an in-between link like a crew member who may have been exposed (given the coronavirus’s long incubation period before symptoms appear it certainly seems possible, but that’s pure conjecture) but this much is clear: Avatar frontman Johannes Eckerstrom got it, and as such the remainder of the run, which was scheduled to go through October 18, has been nixed. Thankfully he is fully vaccinated and feeling fine.

The band posted on social media yesterday:

“We are very sorry to announce that the remaining dates of the Going Hunting tour are postponed. Johannes has tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated, feels fine under the circumstances, and expects a full recovery shortly. Sadly, this will not be in time to make the remaining shows happen. We are already working on solutions to make the dates at a later time. We are looking into routing around our dates in January at Shiprocked, so please stay tuned for that!

“We made a point to not see friends, fans, or anyone outside our bubble on this run in order to minimize the risks. We thank everyone who helped make this tour as safe as possible. It’s amazing that we made it this far and that was a team effort.

“This is just a bump in the road and we WILL see you all very, very soon!
Be good to yourselves. Take care of each other. / Avatar

Speedy recovery wishes to Mr. Eckerstrom.

Stay safe out there, people… it’s the only way we can make these cancelations a thing of the past.
