Disturbed’s David Draiman is Back on Social Media, and He’s Fired Up

0

Disturbed frontman David Draiman, whose ALL CAPS TWITTER TIRADES were the stuff of legends for years, has emerged from a nearly seven-year-long social media draught to share his opinions on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness with the world once again. And he’s revved up!

His return to Twitter in particular is so noteworthy that his publicist emailed MetalSucks specifically to tell us just that. Posting on Friday, January 7, Draiman said:

“Came back to @Twitter because I was tired of watching from the sidelines for the last number of years. Yes, the world of social media is still a relative cess pool, but I figured maybe it was time to jump back in, only this time, with a hazmat suit on…lol.

“Too much going on in the world that I care deeply about to not share it with everyone. Too many things to call out, to both celebrate and condemn. Too much manipulation, too many people attacking one another, too much tribalism, and obnoxious virtue signaling.

“Too many rageaholic keyboard warriors out there using what should be, and can be, a medium that brings us together, to only make us feel more divided. Not me. Just truth, no bullshit, no troll wars. I will do my damnedest to be a light in the darkness here.”

Draiman has already posted dozens of tweets on subjects he’s long been passionate about (Israel, anti-semitism [Draiman is of Jewish heritage]) and newer causes he believes in (marijuana legalization), as well as innocuous boasts about the success of his new song with Nita Strauss and complaining about men who piss on toilet seats.

But he’s saved his most vitriolic words for those who compare vaccine mandates to the holocaust, saying in no uncertain terms that he won’t have any of it.

“People who compare having to have proof of vaccination to get in a restaurant to the holocaust are cordially invited to go fuck themselves,” he posted, along with a meme made by someone else.

But that wasn’t all he had to say on the topic over the weekend. He continued:

“The only thing that the holocaust should be compared to is the ACTUAL FUCKING HOLOCAUST.

“THATS IT. That’s all. Stop appropriating our suffering for your bullshit political agendas. Thanks.”

Just this morning he posted a thread in which he attempts to clarify his political affiliations (or lack thereof) and general life philosophy, explaining:

“I’m not a Republican. Not a Democrat. I’m a HUMANIST. I believe in human freedom, autonomy, and progress. I embrace science and reason rather than revelation, though I try to not judge others based on their own personal beliefs.

“I advocate for human rights, and free speech. I personally object to excessive religious entanglement, and I particularly object to the STATE, and the power it wields by sowing fear and division. I believe in unity. I’m pro peace and coexistence, and anti-war and conflict.

“I believe in free market capitalism, and the ability of each individual to achieve their own dreams without the hinderance of, or reliance on the state. I believe that we all have the power to make a better future for ourselves and our world.

“I believe in justice and true equality. I believe in myself, I believe in you, and I believe in the love that can be shared between any two creatures that inhabit this planet of ours.”

Indeed, it would seem that Draiman subscribes to neither the typical Democrat or Republican mindset. While he’s in favor of vaccine requirements and science and reason, and claims to object to “excessive religious entanglement” (all Democrat pegs, although his last claim is questionable), his support of pure free market capitalism and strong support of Israel usually flips the other way.

So while I can’t say Draiman 2k22 is along the likes of Woke Axl and Woke Baz we’ve seen in recent years, I can confidently say this: I’m glad he’s back on Twitter! Even if we don’t entirely see eye-to-eye and I never liked the guy’s music. More, plz.
