Bruce Dickinson Says This is the Most Underrated Iron Maiden Song

0

Bruce Dickinson has named “Total Eclipse,” the B-side to the 1982 single “Run to the Hills,” as Iron Maiden’s most underrated song.

The singer made the claim during the recent Tampa, Florida stop on his current U.S. spoken word tour, in answer to a fan-submitted question.

Dickinson also revealed that the original B-side for “Hills” was intended to be the song “Gangland.” But the band ultimately decided “’Gangland’ sounds great! This is so good that we can’t do it as the B-side!” The song consequently became the penultimate track on Dickinson’s first album with Maiden, The Number of the Beast.

This despite what Dickinson has revealed to be a major error within “Gangland”:

“’Gangland’ went on the album, and we actually forgot to mix the guitar solos. There’s a bit in there [at the 2m24s mark], and there’s no guitar solo. To this day, I think we forgot!”
