Video: Elden Ring‘s Main Theme Gets the Blastbeat Treatment

What do you get when you combine Hidetaka Miyazaki, George R.R. Martin, and one of the best drummers in metal? I doubt you could even imagine it. You get Elden Ring with blastbeats, and I don’t think a sentence has ever made me so happy to type.

While a certain few people here at MetalSucks have been balls deep in Elden Ring (it’s me, I’m the people), the metal community as a whole has been swallowed up by the colossal hype surrounding the game as well. That includes Rivers of Nihil/Flub drummer Jared Klein, who took it upon himself to add blastbeats over the game’s main theme. The resulting death metal symphony would make Progenies of the Great Apocalypse-era Dimmu Borgir blush.

Seriously, someone needs to write it down in a book somewhere that video game music always gets better with metal drumming. Final Fantasy 7‘s Sephiroth got a similar treatment with “One-Winged Angel” in the Advent Children movie, and although there aren’t blast beats in that, the song is infinitely cooler and more evil once the double bass show up. Shocking how that works, huh?

So tell me this ain’t the coolest shit ever. I DARE YOU. Just kidding, I actually dare you to go play Elden Ring if you haven’t played it yet, because it’s fucking awesome. Just remember that if you’ve never played a Dark Souls game before, it’s going to be the hardest game you’ve ever played.

I also dare you to go see Jared play drums on tour with Flub this month. Elden Ring probably isn’t on their set list, but it never hurts to ask.
