Watch a Clip of Tool’s First New Music Video in 15 Years

Tool are notorious for taking their sweet time doing just about anything, but collectively we have all decided to deal with that because, well, they’re Tool. One of the results of this patience is a new version of the 1992 Opiate EP’s title track, aptly renamed “Opiate2” (Opiate Squared) for its 30th anniversary, and to boot, we get their first new music video in 15 years, too.

The video itself is creepier than just about any metal music video I’ve ever seen, and that’s because guitarist Adam Jones worked with visual artist Dominic Hailstone (whose work you probably know from Alien: Covenant). The clip here is just a three-minute segment of a total 10+ minute short film for the re-amped song. If you want to see the full video, however, you’re going to have to order a physical copy of it, which is available for purchase.

If you recall, Tool recently said that they are working on some ideas left over from Fear Inoculum, so hopefully it won’t be another 13 to 15 years before we get a new album/video from Tool. Fortunately, drummer Danny Carrey feels the same way that we do about it.

You can still catch Tool (and The Acid Helps) at two more shows before they hit Europe in April with Brass Against (who you probably remember from the whole pee incident).
