Jinjer Have Raised Over $140,000 for Ukraine With Their T-Shirt Campaign
The world has felt for Ukrainian hard rockers Jinjer during Vladimir Putin’s recent invasion of their homeland. The band were one of the first to speak out against the war, and eventually chose to back out of an opening slot on Slipknot’s upcoming tour so they could return home and help people in need. But the band’s hard work has paid off, as they’ve already raised over $140,000 USD for Ukrainian relief by selling their limited-edition T-shirts which celebrated their heritage and featured the slogan, ‘WE WANT OUR HOME BACK.’
Jinjer offered the following update on their fundraising campaign via their Facebook, writing:
“Dear friends! Over 11,000 Donation Tee’s sold and 130.000€ raised in the last few weeks! Your support will not only help so many people in need but sends a much needed positive sign that they are not alone.
“The first donations totaling 10K have already been sent to a bomb shelter in Kyiv housing and protecting 300 people, and a Slovakian humanitarian convoy collecting urgent medical supplies, food and clothing to be delivered Uzhgorod for refugees from the Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions who have been hit hard since the war started.
“More updates on where and who your donations have helped will be posted soon! On behalf of the entire band, crew, label and all of Ukraine — WE THANK YOU! For those of you that have not grabbed a shirt yet, both designs are available.”
Google converts 130,00€ to approximately $143,377.65, so DAMN, good for Jinjer. This is obviously an incredibly heartwarming story, and we’re stoked that the band is able to do so much for people suffering through this horrible campaign of destruction in their homeland.
Jinjer’s shirts are still available for purchase. You can also check out our running list of ways that you can help the Ukraine via metal bands’ merch offerings and fundraising campaigns.
