Primitive Man Announce New EP, Drop First Single via Deeply Unsettling Music Video

0

If you know Colorado’s Primitive Man, you know that it’s not exactly music for the best of times. The trio make experimental sludge that sounds like the floor collapsing out from under your life in the wake of an unspeakable tragedy. Now, it’s time for listeners to once more wallow in the stuff found oozing into the basement of the human soul, as Primitive Man have announced a new EP, and have dropped the first single via an unsettling music video.

Primitive Man’s new EP will be titled Insurmountable, and will cringe away from the harsh light of day on May 13th via Closed Casket Activities. The record is already available for preorder, with cover art and tracklisting viewable below.

The record’s first single “Cage Intimacy” doesn’t go quite as off the deep end as some of the band’s other stuff. There’s a discernible tempo and structure to this song — at least, at first — which isn’t always the case with these guys. That said, don’t think this is a party anthem, as Primitive Man take the listener on an 11-minute journey through a magical world of water damage, old diapers in the street, and the emotions one feels as they watch the ocean floor drop out from under them while swimming out into the sea. It’s cool to see that these guys haven’t lost their touch, even if it’s a clammy touch you feel in total darkness.

Check out the video below, followed by the album details. Meanwhile, get tickets to see the band live at one of the following dates:
