Congrats: Bam Margera Completes One Year of Rehab
It’s been a rough couple of years for former Jackass star Bam Margera. The skate icon and amateur stuntman bailed on rehab in 2019, only to be arrested and forcibly returned. The guy didn’t even know that his friend Alexi Laiho had passed away until two months after the news broke. Bam also sued his Jackass costars and Paramount, claiming they kept him from appearing in Jackass Forever by making him sign a document packed with unreasonable demands; he later dropped that suit, with the document provided by the filmmakers proving more than reasonable. But now, according to a post on his Instagram, Bam has completed on year of treatment, and is able to return home to his wife Nikki and son Phoenix.
In a photo on Instagram, Bam posted an image of himself with a hand up, and scrawled on it is “1 year!” Below, Bam added the caption, “ONE YEAR of treatment!🤘💜 #fuCKYeah #bamsback #bamsfree” Bam then posted a video of him walking with his son Phoenix, captioned, “Home sweet home, with Phoenix and @nikkib124. 🤘💜 #fuCKYeah #bamsback #bamsfree.” The video show Bam hugging his wife and walking with his son around their apartment complex in Boca Raton, where Bam’s family relocated to be near his treatment center, and where, according to a statement made to TMZ, he’ll continue to attend classes.
Look, addiction is really fucking hard, as anyone who’s ever dealt with one — this writer included — can tell you. And if you want to wrestle that monkey off your back, there’s really nothing to do but the work (that sounds a little glib, but it’s really the truth when it all comes down to it). So say whatever you want about Bam, but one year of getting help is no joke. That’s the work right there, and we commend him for doing it.
